What to Notice
a fragile 'thou", a hungry tiger, a steamed pod on my plate, the color of orchard grass, the scent of abandoned bluebooks, a thirsty cow, an angry boss, the smiling farmer all coated with husk ... the sweet lustre of one of your girls, the word someone tosses about like a head, tumbled with dreads... the way someone cries when they're lonely, and laughs when they are simply alone -- although I did not hear them then, I only hear them now
The Wayfarers
February 11, 2012
Wayfarers ... single souls journeying through an illumined landscape Cast no shadow but their own loneliness Moves them like a river always To ward and already Kissing the sea. Droplet by droplet Over the edge of the sharp cliff One by one by one by one Ten thousand times over They come as one To again be as One. The moon, Her nose poking through the glistening depths Of ocean Laughing to see herself, toothless In the night sky. Studded with jewels she dreamed of The day before. In a hurry to get From nowhere To now here. We must make that gap Hold open. Like the toothless moon Laughing.

A Light Rises from the Forest Floor
February 28, 2011
Just one moonless night. Deep into it, yet the stars had not come out. I followed the old beaver along the bank. And entered deep into the center of the forest. The trees stared at me as the very last bit of light went out. Dark. Dark like I've never seen before. Silent like I'd never heard before. Shrouded by a stillness from somehow else. I feel it first between my toes As nodes of understanding rose from the bottom up Toe to head and then back again Where the forest floor warmed In a shimmer of self-luminous light.
